Stroke Rehabilitation Games

A series of games built to help patients recover, proving the case that gesture-based games created specifically to motivate stroke patients to repeat exercises can help drive recovery, and without requiring occupational therapists and physiotherapists to constantly be present.

Our feasibility study, which won best presentation in our category at Collaboration Nation in December 2013, included pre-clinical research to investigate whether it could:

  • enable those responsible for the continued care of stroke out-patients to more easily monitor their patients’ progress, and quickly identify any issues of concern;
  • enable out-patients to feel more supported and motivated to keep going with the exercises that they have been asked to continue for their rehabilitation;
  • and free up therapists to concentrate on higher levels of care for stroke in-patients.

This was an Innovate UK funded project, together with partners Hassell Inclusion and Gamelab UK
