This page says what this website collects, why, who handles it, and how to ask us to delete it. It's written to be read rather than to cover us. If anything's unclear, use the contact form and a person will answer.
Reflex Arc Ltd, registered in England (07707982), Brookfield Court, Selby Road, Leeds LS25 1NB. We're the data controller for anything collected through this site.
Forms. Some pages have a short form: your email address and, if you choose, a message. We ask for it for one stated reason on each page – to reply to an enquiry, or to count and later contact people interested in a particular app – and we use it for nothing else. We don't add you to a general mailing list or pass your details to anyone. Where a form has a box to tick for updates about a particular app, we'll email you about that app only, and only if you've ticked it. Some forms are handled by Formspree, which delivers the message to our inbox; Formspree is based in the United States and processes the data under a data-processing agreement with standard contractual clauses. Others are handled by our own small service running on Cloudflare, which stores what you send in a database only we can open, and uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the form was sent by a person rather than a spam robot. We keep messages for as long as the reason we asked for them stands, and delete them when you ask.
The "I'd want this" and "I'd use this" buttons. Tapping one sends us nothing about you – it adds one to a count, and your browser remembers that you've tapped it. No email, no name, no sign-up. Where the count is kept by our own service, it avoids counting the same tap twice by using a one-way code made from your connection and browser that changes every day and can't be traced back to you; your IP address isn't stored.
Light or dark. The site follows your device's light or dark setting. If you choose one with the switch in the menu, your browser remembers that choice on your device.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how the site is used. It sets a cookie (_ga) in your browser so it can tell a return visit from a new one, and records the pages you view, roughly how long you stay, the type of device and browser, an approximate location (city level – the IP address itself isn't stored), and whether the site was shown light or dark (and whether that was your device's setting or your choice). Nothing in it identifies you to us, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it. Google keeps the data for 14 months. If you'd rather not be counted, your browser's tracking protection or Google's opt-out add-on will stop it.
Why there’s no cookie banner. We’d rather not put a pop-up in front of everyone who visits, just to ask about one analytics cookie. Most people find those banners more annoying than useful, and opting out is easy anyway – the two options above work on every site, not just this one. We don’t do anything out of order with the data: it tells us which pages people find useful, and that’s all it’s for. If that ever changes, we’ll ask first.
Video. Our own videos are stored with Cloudflare and play directly on this site, without cookies. Cloudflare delivers the files and, like any web host, sees the request (including your IP address). A few project pages embed videos that partners host on Vimeo or YouTube. Those players set their own cookies when you press play, under Vimeo's and Google's policies. We don't see that data.
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our using it. Ask through the contact form; we'll act within a month, usually much sooner. If you think we've got something wrong you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
If we change what we collect, we'll change this page.
