The Virtual Plant Cell VR Experience
Recently we worked with AVRL in Australia on a prototype “Virtual Plant Cell Experience” for the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology. This takes the shape of a VR app for mobile devices, to be viewed with Google Cardboard headsets, Gear VR and Oculus Rift. A 360 video of some of the experience can be viewed below:
The short experience lets students learn about how plants produce energy from protein genes. They can go inside a plant cell, explore the insides (the nucleus, mitochondria, the Golgi apparatus…) and interact by, for example, selecting genes from a strand of DNA.
